A non-drawer learns to draw: Week 2
At the start of February, I committed to practise drawing daily.
Last week, I posted my sketches from my first week at it.
This week, I tried to do a few things:
- Continue practising fundamentals like drawing straight lines and shapes
- Having fun with shapes to create silly characters
- Copying art from manga (which feels easier since it's in black and white) and other illustrations
I've been intentional about using simple tools: mechanical pencil, eraser, and ruler (all of which I already had) and a cheap A6 sketchbook (from my neighbourhood stationery store). Here's a sample from Week 2:

The mountain scenes that I drew by referring to panels from The Legend of Kamui make me happy. Seeing them gives me a sense of progress. On to the next week, for which I'm excited!
